Sometimes God Changes the Plans

This morning I woke up to the sweetest little voice saying, "Mama." We snuggled for a bit, got dressed, and started getting ready for church. It was one of those peaceful mornings that just fills your cup.

Then...life happened.

A situation came up that was completely out of my control, and just like that, I wasn't making it to church.

If you would've asked me a year ago how I would've handled something like that, I probably would've fallen apart. I would've been frustrated, anxious, wondering why things never seem to go according to plan.

But God has been changing my heart.

Instead of getting upset, I pivoted. After breakfast at my mom's house, I came home, curled up, and watched the church service online. And you know what? God still showed up.

That got me thinking...

Life is always going to throw things at us that we can't control. Plans are going to change. Doors are going to close. Things won't always make sense.

The difference is, today I don't immediately assume everything is falling apart. I trust that maybe God is putting something together that I can't see yet.

I've learned over these last several months to lean on Him instead of leaning on my own understanding. Maybe I wasn't supposed to be there this morning. Maybe God was protecting me from something I'll never know about. Maybe He simply wanted me to hear today's message from the quiet of my own home.

The truth is...I don't need all the answers anymore.

I know the One who has them.

God goes before me. He places the stepping stones exactly where they need to be. My job isn't to know what's five miles down the road. It's just to keep walking...one faithful step at a time.

...Usually in my favorite pair of boots.

Speaking of boots...today was gloomy, rainy, and absolutely perfect for curling up in bed with a blanket, a good book, or your favorite show. It even smelled like fall outside, and if you know me, you know that's my season. Boots, oversized sweaters, crisp mornings, hot coffee..hold the pumpkin spice, please...I'm ready for all of it.

Today reminded me that sometimes the interruption is actually the blessing.

Sometimes the detour is God's protection.

And sometimes the change in plans is exactly where He wants us to be.

So today, I'm choosing gratitude. Not because everything went the way I planned, but because I know God is leading the way.

All I have to do is keep following Him...in my favorite boots, of course.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." — Proverbs 3:5-6

Fall is my favorite time of year too. That’s when I will/would (retiring soon) take most time off from work. Not too hot, and not to cold. That’s a wonderful outfit for late September early October. Mike
