Sometimes, no matter how much you plan, life reminds you that it’s in charge....and you just have to roll with it.
The other day, I had a shoot scheduled at a special location that I was really excited about. I had the outfit, the vibe, the vision, but when we showed up… the location was closed. Totally inaccessible. The kind of “oh, I guess that’s not happening” moment that makes you stop and blink a few times.
We could’ve packed it up and rescheduled, but instead, we decided to pivot and change plans. We drove around and found a few spots nearby that ended up being just as cool in their own unique ways. It wasn’t what I had originally pictured, but it worked - and honestly, it turned out better than I expected. It reminded me that sometimes the plan isn’t as important as the energy you bring to it.
It also made me reflect on where I’m at creatively right now. I’ve been in the early stages of coming up with some of my own content, especially around The Kenzie Boots. It’s been exciting to figure out how I want to showcase them, how I want them to feel and be seen. It’s all still taking shape, and I know it’ll take time.
But I’m starting. I’m experimenting. I’m letting it be messy if it needs to be. Because so much of the creative process is about trying different things, scrapping things, starting over, and learning as you go.
So here’s your reminder (and mine): it’s okay if things don’t go according to plan. Sometimes the detour leads to something even better. And sometimes, it’s just about showing up and letting the story unfold, one step (or one boot) at a time.
