Superheroes, a Headache, and a Whole Lot of Gratitude

I woke up this morning with a headache so bad I couldn’t even drive to get coffee. And if you know me, you know that’s when things have gotten serious.
I don’t get headaches often, but when I do, they take me OUT. I spent most of the morning complaining about it until I got sick of hearing my own voice. Meanwhile, Luca was crawling all over me, playing superheroes, and operating at an energy level that made me wonder if he had gotten the coffee I couldn’t go buy.
So I sat down, let him pull me into his little superhero world, and started thinking about this week.
It was busy. Like, “where did the week go and why is there a tiny Batman climbing on me?” busy. But I’m grateful for it.
Some things happened that were completely out of my control. Usually, that’s enough to send my brain opening 37 tabs at once, with one frozen and another playing music I can’t find. But this week, I felt calm. I handled what I could and let the rest be what it was.

And in the middle of all that busyness, I got to step into Luca’s imagination more than once. We played, laughed, and had so much fun. I got to be present with him. That might sound small, but to me, it’s everything.
I’m grateful that my children get the version of me I am today. A version who can slow down, get on the floor, play superheroes, and recognize how blessed she is….even while her head is pounding and someone is using her as a climbing wall.
God has blessed me in ways I can’t fully explain, and He continues to. Some days that looks like a big answered prayer. Other days, it looks like finding peace in the middle of a chaotic week, with my son beside me reminding me to play.
Now, if this headache could leave so I can get my coffee and put on a cute pair of boots, I’d be grateful for that too. Apparently, even Supermom has limits.
